How To Remodel A Small Kitchen

Most of us, at one point or another, get tired of walking into our kitchen and seeing the exact same thing over and over again. It can get old. We want to liven things up a bit, make things seem a little more special, a little more pretty and neat.

Unfortunately, it seems like this process costs quite a bit of money. I will not deny that it can be very expensive, depending on what it is that you want to do, but in this article, we are going to give you a few ways that will allow you to make your kitchen look extra special on a budget!

Replacing the Door and Cabinet Handles

This is, perhaps, the easiest way to remodel/renovate your kitchen because all you need to do is replace a few pieces of hardware. Once you do this, the differences are very noticeable. It will not feel different, at first, but slowly, you will start to feel the difference. That is because those little things – knobs and handles – add something to the atmosphere of your kitchen.

It is very inexpensive to do this, and it really does not take that much time. Nonetheless, these quick changes and replacements add a lot to your kitchen. You do not even need to replace your cabinets, all you need to do is replace the hardware that is on them.

Paint Your Walls

Generally, this is a bit more expensive than just replacing your handles and knobs. However, that depends on the size of your kitchen, as well as the kind of paint you want.

Most kitchens are painted in white or other “standard colors”. This makes your kitchen look very drab and boring, and one of the easiest ways to remodel on a budget is by just painting your walls a different color. This changes everything. Go from white to, say, pink, and everything is different. Find colors that suit your personality and then apply them where you want. If you really want to be radical about it, paint your kitchen a color such as yellow or orange. Depending on the current color of your kitchen, this will change the entire atmosphere behind it and it will be a much more inviting – and stylish – place.

One other option is painting your cabinets, as well. Cabinets are a big part of any kitchen, as we all know, and by painting them, you overhaul a huge part of your kitchens decor and alter the atmosphere of your kitchen. Choosing to paint both the walls and the cabinets may be a very wise choice due to this fact.

Replace Your Countertops

Most countertops suffer for years before they are replaced. Chances are, your countertop is the same and it has seen quite a bit of abuse. This is even more important if you are painting your walls or cabinets, because then you will need something that goes with the new color scheme you are putting in.

One thing to note is that replacing your countertops can be very expensive, and I would understand if you are not super keen on that idea simply because of the cost. However, there is one big alternative that you should consider, especially if you are painting the walls/cabinets a new color.

You can buy something called a “DIY Resurfacing Kit” which allows you to add a solid coat on top of your countertop, to make it look better.

The average kit takes three days to use, and it costs around three-hundred dollars, compared to the three-thousand-dollar price tag for a new countertop. This option might be for you.
